Police commissioner for linking of traffic violation data with RTO, insurance companies

City Police Commissioner Chandragupta opined that linking the traffic violation database with Regional Transport Office (RTO) and insurance companies will help in collecting the pending fine.

A majority of the cases are pending as the violators or the owners of the vehicles neglect Field Traffic Violation Report (FTVR) notices. Thus, linking violation database with RTO and insurance companies will help in collecting the pending fine. City police had experimented in this regard and was found successful. Now, we have sent a report and the initiative can be taken up across the state, he said.

The owners of the vehicles can obtain no objection certificate (NOC) after paying the pending fine, he said.

The commissioner also said, “The intention of the police is not to harass the public but to ensure their safety by streamlining the traffic. We are committed for the safety of the people.”

The commissioner also said that it is not possible to stop checking by the traffic police. The drive is a must to check minor driving, riding without helmet and without valid driving license among the others. However, the drive will be conducted between 10 am and 12.30 pm and 3 pm and 5 pm. The vehicles will not be stopped during the peak hours, he said.
