Seer for restoring glory of Indian classical music

He was speaking after inaugurating the State-level light music programme at Gubbi Veeranna Ranga Mandira here on Thursday.

The programme was organised by Sri Vaniraju Samskritika Kala Tarabeti Kendra in association with Kannada and Culture Department.

The programme was held in memory of singer late P Kalingarao.
Veereshananda Swamiji called for the renaissance of Indian music which would restore the glory of our music.

He said the music therapy will facilitate positive approach to the issues by sharpening the sensitivity of the individual.

Veereshananda Swamiji also elaborated on contribution of music in development of literature. He said, literature and music are indispensable parts of culture. 
The seer further said that singers popularised the literature through singing among the general public.

Karnataka Music and Dance Academy Chairman and clarinet-player Pandit Narasimhalu Vadavati presided over the programme. Playback singers B K Sumitra and Rameshchandra, Music director B V Srinivas, writer Kavita Krishna and playwright Mahalingu were present on the occasion.

Singers Gopi, Chandrika Gururaj and Phalguna were felicitated during the programme.
Singer T V Raju, district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Chandrappa and K Sudhindra also spoke on the occasion.
