South Zone clinch Dasara cricket cup

The tournament organised by Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) and Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled for the visually impaired saw South Zone defeating West Zone by 59 runs.

In the 20-over match, South Zone got off to a rollicking start with captain Shekar Naik smashing eight boundaries and scoring a half century in quick time.

However, G Venkatesh scored a sensational 91 runs, which included eight boundaries helping the South Zone set a target of 224 runs.

Chasing the target, West Zone were able to score only 164 runs before being all out in 19.4 overs.

Captain Shekar Naik proved his mettle with the ball as he clinched two wickets for 32 runs.

Scores:

South Zone: 223/8 in 20 overs.
Batting: G Venkatesh 91 runs, Shekar Naik 56 runs, Ajaykumar 25 runs.
Bowling: Hitesh 2/30, Ganesh 3/46.
West Zone: 164/10 in 19.4 overs.
Batting: Sanjay 75 runs, Jignesh 16 runs.
Bowling: Ajaykumar Reddy 2/24, Shekar Naik 2/32, Pushparaj 2/44.
Result: South Zone won by 59 runs.
