Sports policy soon: Minister

District in-charge minister M P Appachu Ranjan said a sports policy will be formulated within the next 60 days.

After inaugurating a teachers convention, organised by Somwarpet taluk primary teachers’
association, recently, he said there was a proposal before the government to provide reservation for students who have excelled in sports, in higher education.

“To utilise the youth power, a youth policy will be implemented. All efforts have been taken to provide hill allowance for government employees who have been serving in Somwarpet taluk,” he said.

Karnataka State Primary School Teachers Association president Basavaraj Gurikar said there should be an uniform policy on education. Expressing concern over closure of Kannada medium schools, he said there is a need to provide quality education through better facilities.

Teachers association president K B Prakash presided. As a part of the convention, a colourful procession was held. The procession included Veeragase, dollu kunitha, puja kunitha, kalladka bombe, colourful umbrellas, etc.

The students had organised an exhibition on the occasion.
