Varsity, sports academy in a scuffle

Last Updated 16 January 2010, 16:46 IST

Reacting to this the chancellor Dr S C Sharma in a press statement has said that the roller skating rink and the two tennis courts are illegal constructions. (survey no 324)” The land belongs to Arts and Science College and relevant documents are available, however the varsity will not create any trouble to the tennis stadium and will not stop the playing. But the skating yard and open tennis court is an illegal construction and can the possibility of having an agreement with the Tumkur district Tennis Association be looked into, he questioned.

“The SC/ST students are put into great inconvenience due to running a hostel in a rented building and when it was decided to construct hostels for them the boards were pulled down, which has hurt our sentiments.  Hence the land that legally belongs to the Government Arts and Science College should be vacated”, he said.
