Youth Cong banks on hardworking members

State Youth Congress president Rizwan Harshad said: “Youth Congress in unlike before. A lot of changes have taken place. Priority is given to those who work for the welfare of the party.”

He was speaking to mediapersons following a felicitation programme held at the Congress office on Sayyaji Rao Road in the city on Sunday.

AICC president Sonia Gandhi and youth leader Rahul Gandhi are giving importance to young leaders. The youth base is being strengthened under the two leaders. Several camps have been held in various districts and a state-level camp was held in Bangalore recently to provide training to the youth Congress members, he said.

The work done by youth members would be recorded. Even if the leadership changes, the quality of work done by youth members would be taken into consideration while giving them better opportunities. In the next council elections, new faces will also compete, he added.

Harshad was presented with a turban and a sword. However, a lot of leaders including the city Sevadal president were absent at the felicitation programme.

Youth Congress (Rural) former president B J Vijaykumar, Sevadal Mysore city former president Srinivas, Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha Youth Congress president Kumar, Chamaraja constituency president C S Raghu, Ramesh, NSUI Mysore unit president Syed Abbas, Siddqui and Shareef were present.
