Man beheads friend over lewd comment about mother

A youth beheaded his friend for reportedly passing lewd remarks at his mother at Chikkabagalu in Malavalli taluk of Mandya district on Saturday.

The suspect is Pashupathi, 28, son of Naganna of Chikkabagalu and a bachelor. The deceased is Girish (34). It is said Girish had behaved indecently with Pashupathi’s mother around three days ago, which had left him seething with anger. A few in the village pacified him. But Pashupathi, who was in a fit of rage, hatched a plan to murder him. On Saturday morning, he took Girish on his motorbike for coffee and beheaded him with an axe. He travelled 20 km on the motorbike with the severed head to the police station and surrendered before the police.

Police took the suspect to the village and shifted the body of Girish to the district hospital for post mortem. The Belakawadi police have registered a case. Pashupathi’s parents and brother are at large. Girish is survived by a four-month-old baby. The video clip of Pashupathi with the severed head has gone viral on social media.
