Shobha failed in duties as MP: Bhoje Gowda

JD(S) leader Bhoje Gowda said that the voters in the constituency are well aware of the fact that BJP candidate Shobha Karandlaje would remain inaccessible after elections.

He told reporters on Saturday that the BJP candidate had not participated in the review meeting organised to take stock of the progress of the development schemes that were being implemented in the constituency. She had completely failed in discharging her duties as a parliamentarian, he charged.

‘False predictions’

Gowda, expressing his objection to pre-poll surveys and predictions, said that, many times the election predictions turned out to be false. He cited his own example, where he had never expected to being elected as an MLC. No poll survey had predicted his victory, he explained.

He lamented that the youth still favour Narendra Modi. “I hope the youth will soon understand the ground realities,” he said.

The MLC promised to lead a farmers’ delegation from Brahmavar to the chief minister in order to discuss the possibilities of reviving the defunct sugar factory. “The revival is not a question but there is a need to look into the possibilities of growing sugarcane in the region,” Gowda added.

He regretted over the Central government’s decision to merge the Vijaya Bank with the Bank of Baroda and Dena Bank. “Both MPs from the region, Karandlaje and Nalin Kumar Kateel, had failed to prevent the merger of Vijaya Bank,” he criticised.

Modi-free India

Gowda said that a Modi-free India is the only way out to save democracy. He alleged that the Constitution is being misused by Modi and his men.

“As in the previous Lok Sabha elections, there is no Modi wave in the country. The contribution of the local MPs to the coastal districts is zero. The people, therefore, will not support the BJP this time,” he pointed out.

“The programmes planned by the Congress are claimed to be sponsored by the programmes of the BJP, which is ridiculous. The BJP had no role to play in the development of the country. The BJP claims that Rs 15 crore was released for the development of the Malpe harbour, which is baseless,” Gowda charged.
