The Channapatna police heaved a sigh of relief on Sunday as one of the 3 high school girls, who had gone missing under mysterious circumstances, was traced at Sagar in Shimoga district.

“We had circulated photographs of all the three girls across all police stations in the State. The Sagar police traced Archana based on her photograph and took her into custody,” a senior police officer told Deccan Herald.

The police had constituted four special teams to trace the girls after a complaint was lodged. One of the teams left for Sagar to take her into custody.

The truth would be revealed only after police interrogation, he said and added that there was no news about the other two girls. The police have intensified their search to trace them.

Archana, Anitha from Madapura and Pavithra of Karabal Ground in Channapatna are Class IXth students at Girls’ Composite Junior College and stay in a hostel. They went missing since Thursday evening. The warden informed the girls’ parents after they did not return to the hostel. The parents rushed to the hostel and lodged a complaint with the police.

It was initially suspected that miscreants might have abducted them. The police took two persons into custody, but failed to come to any conclusion.
