The All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi will kickstart the party's election campaign in Karnataka from Haveri on Saturday.
Rahul will address the Parivarthana Rally at Municipal High School Grounds.

The rally venue and the town have been decked up with buntings and banner to welcome the AICC president.

District in-charge Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan is overseeing the preparations for the rally. The minister has managed to pacify the farmers, who had warned of staging a protest during the rally, by getting an approval from the state government for the irrigation project to fill Anuru and surrounding lakes.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Dinesh Gundu Rao, said, Haveri is a key constituency in Central Karnataka. We have scheduled the rally following the request by the local leaders. We are confident of wresting the seat from the BJP."

As a security measure, more than 2,000 police personnel from various districts under East zone have been deployed for the rally.

The rally was initially scheduled at Shiggaon. Only last week, the venue was shifted to Haveri.
