Rangayana units for Shimoga, Gulbarga

Rangayana Director Lingadevaru Halemane told reporters here on Thursday that following a long pending proposal from the office of Chief Minister, it is intended to open an unit of Rangayana at Shimoga, apart from Gulbarga.

To create a congenial atmosphere, Rangayana will be hosting ‘Navarathri Rangotsava’ in both the districts in the forthcoming navarathri. This will be followed by theatre camps at these two districts, he added.

However, Rangayana will go ahead further only after studying the pros and cons of opening units, Halemane clarified. Rangayana is also hosting a four-day theatre festival ‘B V Karanth Namana- 2010’ from September 25 in commemoration of the late theatre personality B V Karanth.

Plays like ‘Mayaseetha Prasanga’, ‘Sangathi Arimai’, ‘Agalide Aalake’ and ‘Draupadi’ will be staged during the four-day period, Halemane said.
