Retired ISRO scientist drowns in Swarna river in Udupi

A 63-year-old man, who had retired as a scientist from ISRO, drowned in the Swarna river at Yerlapady village on Wednesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Rathnakar S C (63) from Basavanagudi in Bengaluru.

Rathnakar was staying as an inmate at Sri Ramakrishna Ashram in Yerlapady in Karkala taluk for some time. He had gone to take a bath in the Swarna river flowing next to the Ashram at around 10.40 am on Wednesday. He accidentally slipped and drowned in the river. His body was fished out from the river around 4 pm.

A case was registered at Karkala town police station.
