The Rotary International District 3181 has decided to upgrade anganwadi centres in four revenue districts under its jurisdiction from July 1 as a major rotary district project for 2017-18.
Speaking to reporters, Rohinath Pade, district governor-elect of RI District 3181 said that the project is named as Asha Spoorthi and 250 anganwadi centres in Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru and Chamarajanagara will be upgraded.
The Rotary International District 3181 has 72 Rotary Clubs with over 3,000 members.
The details on the anganwadi centres have been collected from the deputy director of Women and Child Welfare Department in these four districts.
A Rotary Club with 40 members will adopt five anganwadi centres while a club with members from 40 to 60 will adopt eight centres for the upgrading work.
The upgrading work will include renovation of the building, providing toilet, drinking water facilities, furniture, play area, mid-day meal and pre-nursery kits.
