Rs 14.5 lakh unaccounted cash seized in Bellary

The rural police seized Rs 9.5 lakh from Prahlad, a contractor for Jindal steel, at the check post on Hospet bypass road.

Similarly, the Cowl Bazar police seized Rs 5 lakh from Srinivas, a used car dealer, at the check post near Kuvempu Nagar.

As the suspects did not produce necessary document justifying the transportation of the money, the same has been handed over to the Income Tax Department.

In view of the byelection to the Bellary Rural constituency and the model code of conduct in force, the members of the public cannot carry more that Rs 10,000 in cash without supporting document.
