Social activist Dinesh Kallahalli, who filed a complaint against former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, alleging sexual harassment and abuse of a woman, has sought time from the Cubbon Park police to appear before them for questioning.

Kallahalli has communicated to them in writing that he cannot appear before them as he is facing threat to his life and he doesn’t have security. He told the police that he was going to appear before them on March 9, if they provide security to him.

Police inspector B Maruti had issued a notice to him on Wednesday asking him to appear before him on Thursday.

On March 2, while filing a complaint against Jarkiholi, he had given a CD to the police. However, he had not shared any details about the woman and her relatives who gave him the CD.

The police may now issue another notice to him. Kallahalli had filed a petition before the Ramanagar rural police, seeking protection.

A senior officer from the Ramanagar police said they had deployed beat policemen near Kallahalli’s house. He said Kallahalli asked for a gunman, but they cannot deploy a gunman for anyone who asks for it.

“If Kallahalli had asked for security to go to the Cubbon Park police station, we would have taken the necessary steps,” the officer said.

Prashanth Kumar, an activist from Yelahanka, has filed a complaint against Kallahalli, accusing him of being part of a honey-trap. He has asked the police to take necessary action against him. Another pro-Kannada organisation has filed a complaint against Kallahalli with the state women’s commission.
