JOIN USThree of a family died on the spot when the car in which they were travelling fell into a gorge from the narrow road to the Hatyalanarasimhaswamy Hill near K B Cross of Tiptur taluk.
The dead are Narasimhamurthy (38), his wife Kamalamma (32) and their relative Latha (35) of Chikkanahalli in Sira taluk.
They were on their way for a darshan of Hatyalanarasimhaswamy, atop the hill, when the accident occurred, police sources said. K B Cross Police visited the spot and launched relief operations. They have registered a case and are investigating.
In another accident, three people were killed and four seriously injured, when a SUV rammed into a lorry, while overtaking it, in the Shibi forest on National Highway 4 in Sira taluk on Sunday.
Nagaraju (35) of Bukkapattana Maligehatti and Huligappa (45) of Bangarahatti died on the spot. Shashi (25) of Doddaladamara died while he was undergoing treatment at the district hospital in Tumkur.
Nagappa and Huligappa were returning home in the SUV after selling sheep in Bangalore when the accident occurred, according to the police sources.
Kallambella police have registered a case and are investigating.
