Last Updated 09 November 2018, 10:42 IST

To ensure effective waste management in rural areas, the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) department has asked officials to draw blueprints for construction of at least five to six solid waste management (SWM) plants in every taluk.

RDPR Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Monday directed officials to submit detailed project reports by November end.

Speaking during a video conference meeting with chief executive officers of all districts, he said that solid waste management plants should be extended to rural areas also, and that they should be established in all villages in a phased manner. He directed officials to seek assistance from self help groups, community leaders and non-profit organisations and submit the proposals.
