Karnataka sees 973 new Covid-19 cases, 7 deaths

The state's cumulative Covid-19 tally stood at 9,18,544, which includes 12,081 deaths

Karnataka reported 973 new Covid-19 cases and seven deaths, taking the infection count to 9,18,544 and the toll to 12,081, on Wednesday.

The day also saw 1,217 patients getting discharged after recovery. The number of recoveries have reached 8,94,834.

As of Dec 30, the state has 11,610 active carriers of the virus, including 202 in ICUs.

Bengaluru Urban accounted for 554 new cases and five deaths. Mysuru reported 34 fresh infections followed by Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, and Chikkaballapur with 31 cases each.

A total of over 1,39,62,707 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,03,857 were tested on Wednesday alone.

To date, 1,965 UK returnees have been tested Of which, 31 have tested positive (which includes seven cases of new UK virus strain), 1,686 are negative and results of 248 are awaited.
