Medical aspirants, who missed the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) due to a train delay in Karnataka, will get another chance to appear for the test, Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar announced on Monday.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will hold the entrance test for such candidates on May 20 from 10 am to 1 pm.

However, students claiming to have missed NEET on Sunday due to change in the examination centres would not get any chance to appear for the entrance test with NTA officials insisting that they were informed about it “much in advance” through a public notice on May 2, phone calls, SMS and e-mails.

“Happy to announce that #Karnataka Students who missed #NEET exam, due to railway delay will get another chance,” Javadekar tweeted.

NTA later issued a public notice, clearly stating that NEET will be conducted on May 20 for candidates “who were allotted their examination centres in Bengaluru and who were travelling by 16591-Hampi Express to Bengaluru on May 5”.

In the public notice posted on its website, NTA gave names, contact numbers and e-mail addresses of the city coordinators, who are based in Bengaluru, advising students to approach them and “submit their grievances along with documentary proof before 5 pm of May 10”.

“Their admit cards will be issued separately,” the NTA stated.
