Two students were killed and 15 grievously injured when an MUV in which they were travelling collided head-on with a goods tempo early Friday morning near Jeeragala in Mudhol taluk, Bagalkot district
.
The dead have been identified as Honnavva (12) and Raju Mullari (13), both students of Kavati School near Babaleshwara in Bijapur district.
The driver of the MUV has been severely injured. All the injured students have been admitted to government hospitals in Mudhol, Bijapur and Belgaum.
The students were on an educational tour to Aihole, Pattadakal and other historical places in Bagalkot district when the accident occurred.
Due to poor visibility caused by fog, the MUV driver rammed the vehicle into the goods tempo. While Honnavva died on the spot, Raju died of injuries on the way to hospital in Bijapur.
