Taking an indirect dig at Sumalatha, an Independent candidate from Mandya Lok Sabha seat, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said,

“A few people, who do not have the ability to fight the elections, are harassing the officials. Why should I reply to their charges? The election officials will take care of it.”

He was speaking to reporters during his campaigning for JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda here on Monday.
Why should I answer to the charges made on the election process?.

Replying to a query on BJP leader K S Eshwarappa’s unfit to be CM remark, Kumaraswamy said, “People will decide who is unfit. I don’t need a certificate from Eshwarappa or the BJP.”

Kumaraswamy and JD(S) president H D Deve Gowda took part in the Lalita Sahasranama at Pattanayakanahalli mutt.

Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said the Hemavathi reservoir was constructed because of H D Deve Gowda’s struggle.

“Deve Gowda had launched struggle in the early 1960s against the excessive release of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu. Many dams, including Hemavathi reservoir, came up in Cauvery catchment because of the pressure exerted on the state government by Gowda and others. BJP leaders Madhuswamy, G S Basavaraju and Suresh Gowda, who keep questioning about Gowda’s contribution were not even born then,” the CM said.

Coalition leaders, including Kumaraswamy and his deputy G Parameshwara, campaigned for H D Deve Gowda, the JD(S) candidate from Tumkur Lok Sabha constituency, in several taluks on Monday.
