Argentina striker Lionel Messi bid a teary goodbye to FC Barcelona on Sunday. Confirming his exit, Messi broke in tears saying he is “not prepared for this and this is very difficult”. “Today I have to say goodbye, I arrived very young at 13 years old, and after 21 years I am leaving with my wife and three children," said Messi. Despite Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract on Thursday, this was not able to happen because of Spanish LaLiga regulations on player registration as per the club’s statement.
