Congress-JD(S) rift widens in Hassan

Last Updated 16 December 2018, 19:48 IST

The discord between coalition partners, the Congress and the JD(S), seems to be increasing with KPCC vice-president B Shivaram joining the bandwagon of leaders complaining against the JD(S).

Earlier, former minister A Manju and MLC Gopalaswamy had expressed their displeasure against the JD(S), mainly against PWD Minister H D Revanna.

In a press conference, here, Shivaram criticised JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda and his family members. He warned of launching an agitation if coalition government coordination committee chairman Siddramaiah fails to check the high-handedness of the ‘JD(S) family’.

“When Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari visited Hassan to lay the foundation stone for the national highway projects worth Rs 1,865 crore on Saturday, the JD(S) leaders did not highlight any achievements of the previous Congress government. The NH projects were sanctioned during the tenure of the Congress government. The JD(S) leaders are condemning the Congress by commenting against the party leaders,” he alleged.

“The JD(S) leaders in the district are not taking the Congress leaders into confidence regarding development activities. Siddaramaiah, former minister H C Mahadevappa and others must raise their voice against the harassment by JD(S) leaders. One is a CM, another is a Super CM and the other one is Supreme CM. But, their achievement is zero,” Shivaram said, without taking any names.

“If Siddaramaiah and others fail to check the audacity of JD(S) leaders, we have to launch a ‘Congress Ulisi’ campaign,” he said.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and PWD Minister H D Revanna should not pass loose comments. As many as 163 farmers have committed suicides after the coalition government was formed, he alleged.
