Grama Vikasa Yojana yet to be implemented in Kalasa

Though Kalasa has been selected for implementing the chief minister’s Gram Vikasa Yojana scheme, the work has not been initiated.

It was former MLA B B Ningaiah who had selected Kalasa Gram Panchayat for the project which included the development of roads, construction of a community hall, a stadium, a temple and scientific waste disposal at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore.

The Kalasa Gram Panchayat had prepared an action plan and had submitted it to the Zilla Panchayat Engineering Division. The delay in floating the tender for the work has however delayed the implementation of the project.

The proposal comprised the scientific disposal of waste at a cost of Rs 10 lakh at Kalasa GP premises, Rs 2 lakh for solar streetlights, Rs 10 lakh for development of Masjid Road, Rs 3 lakh for development of Mujekana Road, Rs 3 lakh for Baragodu Road, Rs 3 lakh for Nisargadhama Layout, Rs 5 lakh for Bharathipura Road, Rs 11 lakh for Kelabailu Road, Rs 2 lakh for Kallatagudda Road, Rs 7 lakh for Edadalu Road and Rs 5 lakh for a road leading to the Christian burial ground.

Edadalu resident K N Suresh said, “We were happy that the road in the village will be developed. The delay is the commencement of work has saddened us.”

The proposal also included the development of Parshanatha Basadi, Anjaneya Swamy Temple, Mujekanina Chowdeshwari and Kallatagudda Babbuswamy Temple.

Taluk Panchayat Member Rafiq said, “The ZP is using delaying tactics in floating the tender for implementing the chief minister’s Gram Vikasa Yojana.”
