Water that has fruits, vegetables or herbs added to it can become infused with both the flavours as well as the health benefits of them. They are helpful in improving hydration as the flavour provides a tasty incentive to those who struggle to drink plain water and are more inclined to juices or carbonated drinks that are filled with sugars and calories.

Drinking water can boost metabolism. That is why these detox drinks have become popular among those who are trying to clean out their bodies and lose weight. Each of the following recipes yields one liter of a detox water. They taste best when served chilled.

Beetroot-coconut water:
Blend one peeled and chopped beetroot with four cups of coconut water and two tablespoons of lime juice.

Beetroot can help in lowering blood pressure and flushing out toxins from the liver. It is also helpful in weight loss and has anti-aging properties.

Coconut water is filled with electrolytes and is an excellent source of hydration. The lime juice helps in improving the quality of your skin and fighting infections.

Strawberry-orange water:
Slice three strawberries and half an orange and place them in one liter of water. Add a handful of torn mint leaves and allow the water to sit for at least four hours or overnight.

Strawberry is rich in vitamin C and may be helpful in reducing the risk of stroke, diabetes and cancer and can reduce blood pressure.

Orange can boost the functioning of the immune system and can be helpful in lowering cholesterol.

Mint can help relieve stress and is useful in skin care.

Pineapple-cucumber water:
To one litre of water, add a cup of pineapple chunks, a cucumber, peeled and sliced and a handful of torn mint leaves. Allow it to infuse for at least four hours or overnight.

Cucumber is rich in antioxidants and can help reduce bloating.

Pineapple has anti-inflammatory properties and can boost immunity and metabolism.

Removing the fruit and vegetables from infused water can help it last longer.
