It is our duty to maintain beaches clean. Even tourists should not dump garbage on the beaches and thereby contribute to the cleanliness of the beaches, said Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil.

He was speaking at beach cleanliness drive, organised by Surfing Swami Foundation and Mantra Surfing Club, at Kolachikambala in Mulki on Sunday.

Over 300 volunteers including students from Alva’s College, Manipal Dental College, members of Mangalore Bicycle Club, Dakishna Kannada district Scouts and Guides and local organisations took part in the beach cleanliness drive taken up from Nadikudru near Kolachikambala to Mulki.

The volunteers collected plastic wrappers, plastic bottles, glass and rubber items and others from the sea shore.
