<p>Healthcare platform Practo on Thursday announced that it has acquired Qikwell, an appointment scheduling platform for hospitals. <br /><br /></p>.<p>This is the fourth acquisition of Practo in the last five months. Shashank N D, founder and CEO of Practo, claims that the acquisition makes it the world’s largest appointment booking platform with nearly 40 million appointments managed every year. <br /><br />Without disclosing the terms of the acquisition, Shashank said it is a cash and equity acquisition. “Qikwell has top doctors and with this acquisition, we will go further and farther in the healthcare segment. We are trying to build the largest and the most comprehensive healthcare platform in the world,” he said, adding that Practo has a very high market share in India. <br /><br />Practo has its presence in 35 cities and only recently it entered the Indonesian market. “We are in the expansion mode and the acceptance in Indonesia has been phenomenal,” he said. Qikwell, which was started by Krishna Prasad Chitrapura and Raghavendra Prasad T S in 2011, has its presence in 250 hospitals in 19 cities. It provides hospital appointment booking without longer waiting period. <br /><br />“There are one lakh specialists in India and there are nearly 6,000 of them on Qikwell. We want to make it to 30,000,” said Krishna Prasad, adding, “We chose Practo over some other options because together we can offer superior, comprehensive and integrated solutions for all participants in the healthcare ecosystem.”</p>
