<p>In keeping with its endeavour to promote and nurture football at the grass-roots level, Bengaluru FC will soon launch an academy for children at its township in Ballari. <br /><br /></p>.<p>These young aspirants will be categorised into six age groups -- Under-8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18. While kids from under-8 to 14 will be day boarders, the under-16 and 18 will be a complete residential programme in Ballari. <br /><br />To be spearheaded by Dutchman John Kila, BFC will conduct trials in Bengaluru, Kerala, Mizoram, Punjab and Chandigarh over the next two months before holding final trials in September at the Bangalore Football Stadium. The goal is to have a maximum of 60 players across two age groups. <br /><br />The selected kids in under-16 and under-18 categories will receive a full-fledged residential training programme. Apart from the schooling, they will receive top quality training from Kila and some respected coaches. That apart, their fitness and nutritional needs will also be taken care of.<br /><br />The kids in the lower age sections will be imparted regular training and once inducted into the programme, all expenses will be borne by BFC.<br /><br />“This is something we wanted to do from the time we set up our shop in Bengaluru. <br /><br />We want to give back to Indian football for what it’s given us. The set-up is in place and we are excited about this new project. Kila has wealth of experience coaching at the junior level in Ghana. We are extremely happy to have him on board,” said JSW Sports Chief Operating Officer Mustafa Ghouse.<br /><br />“During one of the trips to Europe, (BFC Technical Officer) Mandar (Tamhane) and I noticed that kids were getting a holistic training programme. We need to take into acount their playing careers are short. We want the kids at the academy to become rounded individuals.”<br /><br />The Bengaluru leg of trials will be held from July 23-30 at the Bangalore Football Stadium and interested players can register and obtain further information on the official BFC website or on the club’s social media platforms. The dates of trials at the other venues will be announced shortly.<br /></p>
