Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath to Kolambkar (71), a BJP MLA, at the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Dr Neelam Gorhe, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik were present on the occasion.

During the three-day special session from 7-9 December, the new MLAs would be sworn in.

On the final day, the new Speaker would be elected followed by a vote for the new Fadnavis-headed MahaYuti government.

Kolambkar has won the Wadala (and earlier Naigaon) seat - twice from the BJP, twice for Congress and five times for the Shiv Sena.

Kolambkar has never lost an election and there was no break - and hence he is among the few legislators of India - to have won nine successive times.
