Shiv Sena spokesperson Dr Manisha Kayande on Wednesday said: “Ek’nath’ hai toh safe hai’ - pitching for the top job for Shinde.

Even as the tussle continues for the post of CM, there are hectic negotiations for portfolio allocation.

During the day, Shiv Sena leaders Gulabrao Patil and senior most NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal met BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis at the Sagar Bungalow in Malabar Hill.

The political developments intensified after Shinde met Governor CP Radhakrishnan tendered his resignation on Tuesday.

Shinde is now the caretaker CM of the state.

As far as portfolios are concerned, there is a struggle over key ministries like Home, Revenue, Finance, Urban Development, Rural Development, Power, and Water Resources.

“Formation of alliance government takes time…would be the power-sharing formula, who will get which portfolio…all these take some time,” said state BJP President Chandrashekar Bawankule.

Bawankule further said that the CM's post would be decided by the leadership of the three parties.

"The BJP workers want Fadnavis to be the CM while the Shiv Sena people want Shinde and NCP workers want Ajit Pawar...there is nothing wrong in that," he said.

There was also a tug of war for the post of guardian ministers of 36 districts.
