4 in DK, 7 in Udupi file nominations

A total of four candidates filed their nomination papers in Dakshina Kannada district on Saturday. Independent candidate Maxim Pinto filed his nomination from Mangaluru North, Akhila Bharat Hindu Mahasabha candidate Dharmendra from Mangaluru South, Independents Sanjeev Baburao Kuranwad and Sundara K from Sullia constituency filed their nomination papers.

In Udupi district, seven nominations were filed by five candidates on Saturday. BJP candidate from Baindoor B M Sukumar Shetty filed two nomination papers. Congress candidate from Kundapur Rakesh Malli, Independent candidate Shiroor seer Lakshmivara Theertha Swami from Udupi constituency, Bharathiya Janashakti Congress candidate Anupama Shenoy from Kaup and BSP candidate Udaykumar from Karkala filed their nominations.

The last date for filing of nominations is April 24. The last date for withdrawing nominations is April 27.

Anupama Shenoy files

Anupama Shenoy, former Deputy Superintendent of Police and secretary general of Bharatiya Janashakti Congress, has filed her nomination papers to contest from Kaup Assembly constituency in Udupi district in the forthcoming State Assembly elections.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that the Election Commission has given the symbol of Okra for her party. To continue in the same symbol, 5% of the candidates should contest the election. Already, eight candidates have filed their nominations under the banner of the Bharatiya Janashakti Congress.

Tickets have been issued for 15 candidates who will file their nomination papers shortly in different Assembly constituencies in Karnataka.

“The launching of a new political party has helped me to learn new things. It has given me a new experience. The party will be strengthened by next election. The candidates who will lose the election will work hard in the constituency to win the people’s trust. The party will be strong by Lok Sabha election,” she added.

Assets

In her affidavit, Anupama has declared movable assets worth Rs 12,09,614. She has Rs 2 lakh cash in hand. Rs 223,552 and Rs 86,063 in bank accounts. She has Rs 2 lakh worth LIC policies. She does not own any vehicle.

Anupama has 240 gram gold ornaments worth Rs 7 lakh. She neither owns any immovable assets nor has any liabilities.
