<p> A 37-year-old Aam Aadmi Party volunteer committed suicide by shooting himself allegedly due to depression stemming from personal reasons in north-east Delhi’s Jafrabad on Saturday. No suicide note was recovered from the house, police said.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Arvind Malik lived with his family in Arjun Mohalla and supported AAP candidate for state assembly elections from Seelampur, Gopal Rai. According to police, he shot himself in the head in his house at about 8.45 am. He used a licensed pistol of his brother-in-law, which was recovered from the spot by police.<br /><br />“He was found lying in a pool of blood after family members rushed to his room on hearing a gunshot,” a police officer said. The room was locked from inside due to which foul play has been ruled out. A call was made to the police control room after which Arvind was taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. “He was declared brought dead by doctors,” the officer added.<br /><br />Investigating officers later questioned Arvind’s family which revealed that he was undergoing severe depression for the past several months. “Our probe has ruled out any volunteer work-related stress causing the suicide,” the officer said.<br /><br />Meanwhile, terming Arvind as ‘an active volunteer’, the AAP released a statement condoning his death. “We are deeply saddened to hear that Arvind has committed suicide. We stand with his family in this tragic hour and pray that his troubled soul finds peace,” the statement read.<br /><br />The party said that he took the step due to some family problem, but refused to divulge information. “We are very saddened that he chose this extreme step that has crushed all of us who cared deeply for him,” the statement added.<br /><br />Arvind is survived by wife, two kids, mother and sister. Arvind’s wife told police that she had served tea to him just before the incident took place. </p>
