BJP has fielded a 'Brahmin' candidate from Gorakhpur and an OBC from Phulpur Lok Sabha seats, where bypolls are scheduled for March 11.
The BJP has nominated local leader Upendra Shukla from Gorakhpur. In Phulpur it has fielded Kaushalendra Singh Patel, who has served as Mayor of Varanasi twice.
Samajwadi Party (SP) has fielded Praveen Nishad from Gorakhpur and Nagendra Singh Patel from Phulpur.
Congress has nominated Dr. Surhit Kareem from Gorakhpur and Manish Mishra from Phulpur seats. BSP has yet to declare its nominees.
