A four-year-old girl was allegedly molested by the van driver in which she traveled to nursery school in north Delhi’s Timarpur. The driver Manoj Kumar has been arrested and sent to jail.

The girl’s medical examination has ruled out that she was raped. But based on her statement, a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) has been registered at Timarpur police station.

The parents of the victim and some other children enrolled at a nursery school had hired Manoj’s private cab on a monthly rental basis to ferry the children to the school located in Rajpura Road.

The victim’s mother, a government servant, approached police on Wednesday to file a molestation case against the cab driver. In her complaint to police, the woman alleged that the driver was sexually abusing her daughter for the past few days. The girl had refused to go to school by that cab for almost a week before the matter was reported to police.

On Tuesday, the girl began crying upon seeing the cab driver upon which her mother got worried and decided to ask her the reason behind her refusal.

The girl told her mother that the driver had touched her inappropriately. The woman immediately approached the local police and lodged a complaint on behalf of her daughter.

An NGO was roped in and the girl counseled and her statement taken. Manoj was subsequently arrested. Police said they are trying to find out if the accused behaved inappropriately with the other girls travelling by the same cab.

The latest incident is the third case of alleged molestation of young girls by drivers of school cabs in Delhi since August this year.

In early August, a cab driver was arrested for allegedly repeatedly abusing a five-year-old girl enrolled in nursery class of a private school in Kalkaji.

Later that month, a four-year-old student of a public school in Hauz Khas was allegedly sexually abused by a cab driver.
