BJP releases exclusive manifesto for Chikkaballapur

Last Updated 02 April 2014, 20:00 IST

The BJP on Wednesday released a region-specific manifesto for the Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha constituency promising to set up a ‘dry port’ linking Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore to a sea port if the National Democratic Alliance comes to power at the Centre.

The manifesto launched by former chief minister R Ashoka and Chikkaballapur BJP candidate B N Bachegowda, states that the dry port, which is an inland terminal directly connected by rail or road to a sea port, providing services for handling, temporary storage, inspection and customs clearance for international freight, will help improve the economy of the entire constituency.

The manifesto gives priority to permanent drinking water projects in the constituency, which has large arid pockets. The Yettinahole project would be implemented scientifically and the recommendations of the Paramashivaiah report implemented in letter and spirit. It also states that the party would prevail upon the State government to set up a South East Water Supply and Sewerage Board exclusively for the districts of Bangalore Rural, Chikkaballapur and Kolar districts.

A circular rail connecting the districts of Kolar, Tumkur, Ramanagar and Chikkaballapur has also been promised in the manifesto.

BJP spokesperson Suresh Kumar said the party would come out with such manifestoes for other constituencies as well.
