Commits suicide as he was married

A 20-year-old girl committed suicide at her boyfriend’s flat in south-west Delhi’s Naraina area after she found that he was already married, police said.

The victim, Ranjana, hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her lover’s house on Saturday evening. She was upset after her boyfriend Vikas Jain rejected her marriage proposal by saying that he was already married.

Jain was living in a rented accommodation in Naraina. He found Ranjana hanging at his house after he returned home from office in the evening.

The victim’s family members told police that she used to keep keys of Jain’s flat. On Saturday, she went to his flat to give him lunch and after that she did not return.
A few months ago she had fallen in love with Jain, who works for a private company.
“The victim regularly pestered Jain to marry her,” said the officer.

“Jain refused her proposal because he was already married. It might be the reason behind her extreme step,” the officer said. A post-mortem report is being awaited.
“We are questioning Jain to find out the exact reason that forced Ranjana to commit suicide. His friends are also questioned about their relationship. We have not found any suicide note from the spot,” the officer said.
