Man uses baby's pram for shoplifting

 A 35-year-old man has been arrested for stealing expensive items from malls in the national capital region, police said on Thursday. 

He used to hide the stolen items  in a secret chamber of his three-year-old baby’s pram to safely move out with them. Sandeep Sharma, a resident of Gurgaon Sector-15 in Haryana, was arrested over a complaint that a headphone worth Rs 30,000, had been stolen from a showroom at a mall in Saket, said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (south). 

CCTV footage“The CCTV footage showed a person had picked the headphone and kept it in his child’s pram. He then made the child sit on it and went out without paying,” Sharma added.During the course of investigation, the police tracked the fraudster through CCTV footage of strategic locations in the mall. 

“The accused was finally tracked at the parking lot and the number of his car was identified.

 He was later arrested from the registered address of the vehicle,” Sharma said. Sandeep told police that he used to visit malls with his three-year-old baby and steal small expensive items. 

“After removing the sensor of the item, he would keep it in the pram and leave the shop confidently,” Sharma added. Further investigation is being carried out and his previous such involvements in other malls are being verified.
