Rapper Chandan Shetty bats for eye donation

Kannada rapper Chandan Shetty, also winner of 'Big Boss' programme, enthralled Mysureans with his performance at Open Air Theatre, Manasagangothri, here, on Saturday.

The musical evening was organised by VSP Entertainment, in association with Kannada daily 'Prajavani', a sister publication of Deccan Herald, to create awareness about eye donation. Shetty and troupe entertained people with a variety of events.

The programme, with the slogan 'Netradana-Mahadana', aimed at promoting eye donations. Registration for donations to visually-impaired persons were made through Divyajyothi Charitable Trust. On the occasion, the organisers appealed to the audience to take an oath to donate their eyes.

The organisers targeted 5,000 people to get their names registered for the cause.

Around 21,000 people created a record by getting their names registered for donating their eyes at a programme in Gujarat. A similar start is being made in Mysuru, the organisers said.
