'Will file defamation against BJP'

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said that his party will file a defamation case against BJP which has alleged that the AAP was diverting funds from NGOs of its leaders.

He also accused the BJP of “terrorising” those who have donated money to AAP.
While taking a jibe at media for carrying BJP’s allegations, Kejriwal on Twitter said, “Media has widely covered arbitrary and baseless allegations by BJP against our funding. We are filing criminal defamation against BJP.”

The AAP challenged the BJP to prove its “motivated and uninformed” allegations.
“It is a classic case of pot calling the kettle black, in which the party which has three-fourth of its donations from hidden sources is levelling absurd allegations on the AAP, which has introduced the concept of transparent political funding in the country,” the party in a press statement said. 

The party added that it is ready for a probe by any agency on its funding.
Earlier, the BJP had alleged that AAP is laundering black money in the garb of party funds. The party also pulled the AAP for not disclosing the names of those who attended their fundraising luncheons in Mumbai and Delhi – from which it claims to have collected nearly Rs 1.5 crore.

Claiming transparency in fundraising, the AAP said that the names of the attendees will be uploaded on the website as soon as their cheques are cashed.

“The AAP is the only political party in India whose entire donations are in public domain and every penny collected is reflected on the party website. Any individual or organisation, including the BJP are welcome to check all details about the donations and donors of the AAP,” the party said.
