Assault on constable: Action sought on PSI

Family members of constable Shivanna, who was allegedly assaulted by PSI Rafiq, staged a protest demanding action against the PSI in front of the SP office in Chikkamagaluru on Saturday.

It is said that Rafiq had hit Shivanna during a security arrangement at the Junjappa Katte annual fair recently. Following chest pain, Shivanna is admitted to a hospital.

Shivanna's wife Asha alleged that the police had failed to file a complaint against the PSI. She said there was a need to conduct an impartial probe into the incident.

SP Harish Pandey said that an inquiry would be conducted into the incident by Koppa DySP. Based on the report, action will be initiated, he added.
