JOIN USTourists have returned to Kodagu after the district administration lifted the ban, though connectivity is yet to be restored to some major attractions.
The recent floods and landslides affected road connectivity in the district. In the interest of the safety of tourists, the district administration directed all resorts, homestays and lodges not to take any bookings.
Deputy Commissioner P I Sreevidya said, “Connectivity is yet to be restored to Abbey Falls, Mandalpatti and Tadiyandamol. Tourists cannot visit these places.” She urged tourists to adhere to the guidelines issued by the district administration.
On Sunday, after a month, a huge number of tourists visited Raja Seat, Bhagamandala and Talacauvery. A large number of people visited the flood and landslide-hit areas of Indira Nagar and Chamundeshwari Nagar to take selfies.
The homestays and houses that were buried in sand on the banks of the stream at Madenadu have turned into tourist hotspots. They were seen taking photographs near the remains of the houses and wooden logs that were washed away in the devastating floods.
Scores of people visited landslide-affected areas in Tanthipala, Mukkodlu, Hammiyala, Meghathal and Emmethal. Flash floods and landslides had ravaged parts of the district, cutting off connectivity.
