None of our system or user compromised: TCS on M&S cyberattack

Bengaluru: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in its annual general meeting (AGM) on Thursday said that its ‘systems or users were not compromised’ in the cyberattack that led to theft of customer data at British retailer Marks and Spencer (M&S). An investigation is being conducted in this case, however, its purview does not include TCS.

“TCS has followed the laid out procedure and continues to provide full support to the customers ensuring full recovery of the systems and the business,” said independent director Keki Mistry.

Tata Sons and Air India Chairperson N Chandrasekaran skipped Tata Consultancy Services’ AGM amid the Air India crisis, stating ‘exigencies’. Independent director Keki Mistry resided as the Chair of the meeting in his absence.

The IT services bellwether also said that it receives 6 whistleblower ethical concerns a month and it is reviewed as per the established process and law. “TCS has formulated a whistleblower policy with a view to provide a vigil mechanism to report any actual or potential illegal or unethical violation of the law of the land without fear of retaliation,” Mistry added.

The company also spoke of agentic artificial intelligence (AI), stating that it is expected to result in a higher level of automation. “These are early days of this technology but we do foresee it performing tasks autonomously that humans do today,” Mistry pointed out.
