<p>Mumbai: Renault India, a fully owned subsidiary of the French carmaker Renault Group, on Wednesday said it plans to take full control of the Chennai based manufacturing facility by acquiring 51 per cent share in the joint venture plant from Nissan in a few weeks.</p><p>At present, Renault and Nissan run a manufacturing facility as a joint venture, in which the majority 51 per cent stake is controlled by Nissan, while Renault owns the remaining 49 per cent. By acquiring Nissan's stake, Renault would become the sole owner of the plant, which has the capacity to produce 4.72 lakh vehicles annually.</p>.India's auto industry could cut emissions by 87% by 2050: CEEW study.<p>Both the companies made announcements in this regard in March. "I hope the process will be completed very soon," Venkatram Mamillapalle, Managing Director, Renault India, told reporters at an event to launch a new generation of Renault Triber.</p><p>Mamillapalle said Nissan vehicles would continue to be produced at the Chennai facility even after the acquisition of the full stake by Renault.</p><p>He claimed that Renault has long-term commitment for the Indian market and would expand its operation by launching new models and expanding dealerships and service centres. At present, Renault has over 350 sales and 450 service touchpoints in India.</p><p>"India remains a cornerstone of Renault’s global strategy, driven by a strong product pipeline, expanding export operations, and a renewed focus on customer satisfaction," he said.</p><p>Renault launched the second generation of its first 7-seater car in the Indian market with a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 6.29 lakh. "This model is also the first in India to feature Renault’s new brand logo, symbolising the company’s bold, modern direction and deep alignment with Indian aspirations," he said.</p><p>Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President (Sales & Marketing), Renault India, said Renault Triber is among the most affordable cars in the below 4-meter segment.</p><p>"Triber has always reflected our deep understanding of the evolving needs of Indian families — blending smart engineering, modularity, and exceptional premium value," Hidalgo said.</p>
