Nasscom cuts animation biz forecast

Nasscom, on Wednesday, projected that the growth rate of the Indian animation and gaming would decline by 22 per cent and 49 per cent respectively by 2010 due to various factors, including lack of skill. It revised the forecast for the gaming industry from US$1,060 million to US$830-million and animation industry from US$1,163-million to US$1,000 million.

“Indian animation industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 22 per cent to reach US$1-billion while gaming industry to grow at a CAGR of 49 per cent to reach US$830-million by 2012,” Nasscom President, Som Mittal, told reporters here while releasing ‘The Animation and Gaming Report 2008-09.’
