The US government’s investment in Indian securities declined 35per cent to $59 billion last year compared to $91.49 in 2010, according to data from a preliminary annual report on US holding of foreign securities.
While holdings in equities were worth $55 billion, investments in India’s long-term and short-term debts were worth $3 billion and $1 billion respectively in 2011. The data is based on a survey by the US Treasury Department, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and the Fed.
