Chemists down shutters

South Kanara Chemists and Druggists’ Association observed bandh on Friday in protest against the online sale of medicines and loopholes in draft regulations on e-pharmacies published by the Centre.

As part of the nationwide bandh call given by All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists, all 625 druggists and chemists shops in Dakshina Kannada downed shutters, Association General Secretary Ganesh Kamath said. The strike had not caused any hardship to the public as all drug outlets attached to hospitals and nursing homes were kept open.
