Last Updated 20 October 2018, 20:36 IST

Chief Secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar has ordered the BBMP to call tenders in the next 10 days for developing 20 roads under the TenderSURE project with funds from the Smart Cities Mission.

This was one of the many orders given to the civic body by the top official at a review meeting on Saturday.

This apart, commercial establishments in the city could apply online for the trade licence in March 2019. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has streamlined the process and issued a circular to this effect. The online trade licence will be issued for five years, BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said at the meeting that was also attended by officials from related government agencies.

Things BBMP should do

* Start the process of buying CCTV cameras from the Central government's Nirbhaya Fund.

* Instal charging points for electric vehicles at the Vidhana Soudha and the Vikasa Soudha; procure electrical vehicles for government use.

* Shift slum dwellers from near Bellandur Lake to homes built in Marathahalli by November 10.

* Collect tax/rent from telecom towers across the city.

* Instal trash barriers on stormwater drains.

* Discuss encroachments on stormwater drains at 50 places in the next 10 days.

* Penalise people who dump construction and debris waste on roads.

For the police chief...

* Procure bus and Tempo Traveller tow vehicles in a public-private partnership.
