On the occasion of the 63rd Karnataka Rajyotsava, Banavasi Balaga, a pro-Kannada group, started a Twitter campaign to support the culture of dubbing movies in Kannada. #ಡಬ್ಬಿಂಗ್_ಇದು_ಕನ್ನಡಪರ (dubbing is not against Kannada) was trending throughout the day on the microblogging website and several Twitteratis expressed their support to the cause.

“It is time for us to create a fear-free environment among the producers to encourage dubbing in the Kannada language. There are still a few influential people who are deliberately trying to stop this movement. We intend to create awareness among the people that dubbing will not cause any harm to our language. Instead, there are a lot of benefits,” said a spokesperson of Banavasi Balaga to DH.

A few people even tagged the movie director's of other languages on Twitter and demanded them to dub their movies in Kannada. Among them were S Shankar, the director of 2.0, and SS Rajamouli of the Baahubali fame.
