Bigg Boss contestant Mastan Chandra's house raided in drugs case

Mastan Chandra, a reality show contestant and Kannada film director, has become the latest celebrity to come under the scanner for alleged drug peddling.

KG Halli and Govindapura police raided his house on Friday. Chandra’s claim to fame is his participation in Bigg Boss Kannada 4.

Police say Chandra has been detained for questioning as they suspect he supplied drugs to parties in pubs, hotels, resorts and apartments. A few film actors and producers were in touch with him. Police may question them, too.

According to police, the raid followed a purported confession from one of the three Africans arrested recently. The suspect had taken the names of Chandra and another man identified as Keshava, police say.

On February 26, police arrested Ugochukwua Harrison Aghabanti and John Nonso, both Africans, and reportedly seized 350 grams of MDMA crystals, four grams of cocaine, 82 grams of ecstasy tablets, seven mobile phones and two motorbikes from them.

The duo led the police to two Nigerians: Usman Muhammed and Lokondo Londja Emmanuel. On the night of March 4, police apprehended Emmanuel from Nagavara Signal but Muhammad managed to flee.

Police got another 526 LSD strips, 200 grams of cocaine, 2.7 kg of MDMA, 1,939 ecstasy tablets, a car and two scooters from Emmanuel. The total value of the seized drugs is Rs 3.5 crore.

Police say it was Nonso who told them about Chandra, and they also backed up the case against the filmmaker with technical evidence. They obtained a search warrant from the court and raided the homes of Chandra and Keshava.
