Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested a rowdy sheeter from Jayanagar recruited by a businessman to kidnap his partner who refused to return Rs 1.5 crore he borrowed.

The arrested have been identified as Manjunath alias boxer Manja and his associate Ramu who helped him kidnap the cloth merchant Kailash Jain.

Police said Manjunath had taken part in national level boxing championships and won three prizes. Jain borrowed Rs 1.5 crore from his partner Babulal and refused to return the sum. This prompted Babulal to seek Manjunath’s help.

After detaining Jain at Mamulpet, Manjunath extorted Rs 3 lakh from him and warned that he must arrange Babulal’s money by Tuesday.

Jain filed a complaint against Manjunath at the CCB police who arrested the boxer.

Investigations revealed that Manjunath worked for the notorious gangster Cycle Ravi, recovering money and settling financial disputes. He started his own gang and settled financial disputes among businessmen, while also extorting money from them.

Police also arrested Babulal who hired Manjunath to recover the money illegally. Manjunath has many cases against him in various police stations.
